Большинство людей примерно представляют себе, как выглядит корабль, попавший в сильный шторм. Впрочем, есть одно «но», чаще всего суда при этом видят снаружи и это впечатляет.
А то, как при этом «чувствуют» себя внутренности корабля, чаще всего остается за кадром.
Это танкер Venere, попавший в шторм 19 января 2013 года.
А это кадры видео как контейнеровоз MSC Busan, попавший в примерно аналогичные условия.
Когда подходишь к круизному лайнеру с многочисленными каютами, ресторанами, фитнес-залами и зонами отдыха, который как айсберг возвышается в порту, то поражаешься его исполинским размерам, особенно на фоне обычных кораблей или яхт. Но когда видишь этот же лайнер в открытом океане, он уже не кажется таким огромным, это всего лишь игрушка в бескрайних водах. Человек же и то меньше — крупица в толще воды.
Всю беспомощность человека в нашем огромном мире понимаешь, когда смотришь видео, представленное ниже, где демонстрируются корабли, попавшие в шторм.
Большие суда еле справляются со стихией, в то время как маленькие лодки или яхты бросает из стороны в сторону, переворачивает, накрывает огромной волной и выбрасывает на скалы. В такие моменты осознаешь всю свою ничтожность перед планетой и силу океана, который может сохранить жизнь или унести ее.
Раньше люди полагались на богов и молились Посейдону, богу морей и океанов, чтобы тот послал спокойную воду и легкое путешествие.
Сейчас же современные моряки и капитаны вооружены метеосводками, картой бурь и штормов, а также данными всевозможных радаров. Тем не менее суда все равно продолжают попадать в водовороты и гибнуть под гигантскими волнами.
Все природные катаклизмы на воде возникают по нескольким причинам. Первая — это подводное землетрясение, которое может быть неощутимо на суше, но стать причиной огромного шторма.

Large vessels can hardly cope with the elements, while small boats or yachts are thrown from side to side, overturned, covered with a huge wave and thrown onto the rocks. At such moments, you realize all your insignificance in front of the planet and the power of the ocean, which can save life or take it away.
Previously, people relied on the gods and prayed to Poseidon, god of the seas and oceans, to send calm waters and an easy journey.
Now modern sailors and captains are armed with weather reports, a map of storms and storms, as well as data from all kinds of radars. Nevertheless, ships continue to fall into whirlpools and die under giant waves.
All natural disasters on the water occur for several reasons. The first is an underwater earthquake, which may be imperceptible on land, but cause a huge storm.
The second is due to warm strong currents, which at times rotate the masses of water clockwise, thereby forming a whirlpool. He creates wind, and the latter begins to drive the upper layers of water, creating giant waves.
Now all storms are determined by the Beaufort scale, the British hydrograph. The scale consists of 12 points and assesses the wind speed. For example, when the wind reaches 28 m / s, the storm is assigned 10 points. The strongest wind — more than 32 m / s — is estimated at 12 points, then the storm becomes a hurricane.
Paradoxically, most storms happen in the ocean, which is called the Pacific Ocean. This is the result of the fact that many volcanoes and faults in tectonic plates are hidden in its depths, which, by their vibration, cause earthquakes.

Russian Nuclear Bomber — Tupolev TU 95
The Tupolev Tu-95 (Russian: Туполев Ту-95; NATO reporting name: «Bear») is a large, four-engine turboprop-powered strategic bomber and missile platform. First flown in 1952, the Tu-95 entered service with the Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040. A development of the bomber for maritime patrol is designated Tu-142, while a passenger airliner derivative was called Tu-114.
The aircraft has four Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, each driving contra-rotating propellers. It is the only propeller-powered strategic bomber still in operational use today. The tips of the propeller-blades move faster than the speed of sound, making it one of the noisiest military aircraft. Its distinctive swept-back wings are at a 35° angle.
The turboprop-powered Tu-95 Bear strategic bomber entered service in 1956 and remains an important part of Russias long range air power.
The current bomber/missile carrier version is the Tu-95MS Bear-H. This entered service in 1984 and was manufactured until 1992. There are two subvariants, both based on the maritime Tu-142. The Tu-95MS16 Bear-H16 carries 16 long-range air-launched cruise missiles (six internally and ten externally). The Tu-95MS6 Bear-H6 is the more numerous version, with provision for external missile carriage deleted in accordance with the SALT/START treaties. About 60 Tu-95s of both variants are based with heavy bomber regiments at Engels and Ukrainka. This total includes three aircraft formerly held in Ukraine.
Russia plans to add the Kh-101 air-launched cruise missiles and Kh-SD air-to-surface missiles to the inventory of the Tu-95MS to improve their conventional long-range precision strike capability.
The air force also operates 11 earlier-model Tu-95KUs as trainers.
The Tu-142 Bear-F was designed primarily for anti-submarine warfare and a variety of naval roles. Around 40 examples equip a single Russian naval aviation regiment at Kipelovo, assigned to the Northern Fleet. The major anti-submarine warfare variants are the Tu-142MK Bear-F Mod 3 and improved Tu-142M-Z Bear-F Mod 4, the last of which was completed in 1994. The Tu-142MR Bear-J is a command post/communications relay platform for communicating with submerged nuclear-missile armed submarines. Such is the importance of the Tu-142 in Russian service, that surviving Bear-F Mod 4 airframes are likely to be updated with Leninets Sea Dragon system, which includes a new radar, low-light-level TV, forward-looking infra-red, new sonobuoys, revised electronic surveillance measures and magnetic anomaly detection (MAD) systems, and an armament of up to eight Kh-35 (AS-20 Kayak) anti-ship missiles for an extended ASV/ASW role.
The only Tu-142 export operator is the Indian navy which has seven Tu-142 MK-Es at Arrakonam. These are broadly similar to the Bear-F Mod 3, but have certain downgraded systems.
